The Manquehue Hill

Perfect views for September days

It is the highest point in the city at 1,638 meters. Its name means ‘place of condors’ in Mapudungun, and it is a must-see destination for hiking and nature lovers.

Access

Manquehue has five main accesses: El Guanaco, La Pirámide (the longest), Vía Roja and Los Trapenses. It is recommended to go by private vehicle, since the nearest public transportation stops are an hour’s walk from the access.

Ascension

You should allow about three hours round trip at a medium pace. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, good shoes and a piece of fruit to enjoy at the top.

Fauna

Cerro Manquehue is home to a rich biodiversity. You will be able to see various species of birds, such as condors, as well as small rodents, horses and cows. Remember to respect the fauna and its habitat.

Going with Dogs

We do not recommend taking dogs for environmental responsibility and because there are areas with many rocks that can be dangerous for them.

If you decide to take your pet, remember to bring them leashed, with plenty of water and bags to pick up their waste.

Incredible views in September

From the summit of Manquehue, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Santiago and the Andes Mountains. A spectacle that we recommend visiting these clear days and low heat.

Recommendations for a perfect day

To make the most of your day at Manquehue, start early, and bring something tasty to enjoy at the top.

Remember: the peak is not the only prize; enjoy the trail and the nature of the region.
