When can I apply for Permanent Residency in Chile?
Permanent Residence can be requested 90 days before the expiration of the temporary residence permit. It is important that in order to apply for Permanent Residence, the minimum time of permanence required in Chile must be complied with.
What is an apostilled document and why is it requested?
The Hague Apostille is a certification of the authenticity of a public or private document, which gives it validity before the countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention.
What is required to drive in Chile?
To drive in Chile, a driver’s license is required.
Tourist foreigners: They can drive with the license of their country of origin for the duration of their tourist visa.
Resident foreigners: May drive with
- International license for a period of one year;
- Depending on the nationality, they can exchange their driver’s license for the Chilean license;
- They can obtain the Chilean driver’s license by complying with the requirements and the process of obtaining it from the Traffic Department corresponding to their domicile.
Can I withdraw the funds saved in my AFP?
Those who are foreign technicians and/or professionals can withdraw their pension funds from the AFP. In order to do so, the following requirements must be met:
- To be affiliated to a welfare or social security system outside Chile, regardless of its legal nature, which provides benefits, at least, in cases of illness, disability, old age and death;
- That in the employment contract or annex to the contract, the will to maintain the affiliation to the social security or social security system outside Chile is expressed;
- To have a professional and/or technical degree.
