International Music Day

Chile has a large number of world-renowned composers.

The music of Los Jaivas, Víctor Jara, Illapu and Los Prisioneros represents an era of dreams, ideals and conflicts in Chile and their works are still very much alive today. On the other hand, the rescue and dissemination of sung peasant poetry is Violeta Parra’s legacy to the world.

More contemporary but no less important musicians are Ana Tijoux, Mon Laferte, Los Búnkers, Gepe, Los Tres and Francisca Valenzuela.
